Kings Peak
Climbed Kings Peak with Josh and Moose last weekend. Unbelievably fun trip with my boy. Hiked in 8 miles to Dollar lake Friday night. Woke up early the next morning and summited about 12:00. Decided to go up and over Anderson pass which was a bit crazy, but adventurous. We took a 2 hour break at camp and then hiked out Saturday evening. Stopped into Mcdonalds in Evanston and got home about 10:30. Awesome trip!

Lone Peak July 14th
Climbed Lone Peak with a good group. Jeff Lauer my new neighbor went along with Cal Fotheringham, Shawn and Katie Corbridge Josh and Amy. Overall a good day, but the weather turned on us a bit at the top. A big black cloud encompassed the summit right when we got up. I booked it down with Josh and Amy, but others still trying to get to the top really had trouble getting down. They got to low on the mountain and got lost in the darkness. I had a feeling to go back up which I did and got them off without incident. The weather was actually extremely pleasant, overcast, and light rain a lot of the way. It cooled things off and made for an excellent day.
June 2012 Lone Peak
Soloed Lone Peak June 16th. Rode my bike from the house to Jacob's Ladder then stashed it and up from there. Nice climb. Quite a bit of snow still on the mountain but nothing like last year. Did the round trip in about 6 hours.

Draper Trail Days 15 Mile
Did the 15 mile Draper trail days run...
Time was 2 hours 20 min...9 min miles. Not bad but room for improvement expecially on the climbs.

Lone Peak #7
Finally went out last Saturday and pushed myself to the limit up this crazy mountain. Have been thinking about how fast I could do this climb for a couple of years and I woke up Saturday morning real early and could not sleep because my thoughts were on Lone Peak. I finally decided to get out of bed about 6 and get on the trail. I took off from Jacobs ladder about 6:45 and just pushed all the way up. Thought my lungs might explode halfway up Jacobs but I kept pushing. I would stop for a few seconds here and there but pretty much kept pushing to the top. I did do something really stupid and forgot my food, but I was able to bum a snickers bar off some hikers and that gave me the energy I needed to get up and down. I summited 2:20. I spent a few minutes on top and spoke to some other hikers that were there on top. They said they had started at 3:00 am. I knew I had to hurry down fast. It is very hard trying to go down in such rugged terrain. Until just before Jacobs ladder I couldn't really open it up and go fast. I called Amy and told her i was going to be later than I thought and then I noticed the ipod I was using had fallen out of my pack. I left a zipper open. This was a neighbors Ipod that Amy had borrowed. I was bummed because I knew I had to go back up and look for it. This about killed me as I was so determined to get down fast. I booked it back up and searched the trail about a mile back. No luck. What a way to ruin my awesome morning on Lone peak. Nothing I could do so I headed down. Jacobs is a beast trying to run down. So steep...but luckily my legs and knees felt pretty good so I just went for it. The last two miles about killed me and all I could think of was getting to the car and collapsing...and eating. I made it...clocked a time of 4:06 which does not include the hour I wasted looking for the ipod. Overall an awesome and painful way to spend a morning.
